How to play Paldo Yuram

The loop runs through 24 towns and four corner squares. You start with 300 nyang.

Complete a province and the toll jumps

A town's toll is its price divided by 5. Hold all three towns of one province and it is multiplied by 2. Three cheap Gyeonggi towns beat one costly Hamgyeong town.

Do not empty your purse

In the founding simulation the pure cash-hoarding bot lost badly to the monopoly-first bot. Buying everything in sight is just as bad, because one toll can empty you. You collect 140 nyang each time you pass Start, so count that cycle.

Drafting the day's rules

You ban 1 of the 6 rule cards and pick 2. Both picks apply to both players.

Think about the ban first. Province Premium rewards whoever already completed a province. If you are behind, ban that one.

The same day is the same board

The die and the order of the road news both come from the date. Your fellow traveller is deterministic too. Replay a lost board and you can see exactly where it turned. A game ends after 120 moves, and whoever is worth more then wins.

The second player starts with 20 nyang more. It works like komi in Go and offsets the first player meeting empty towns first.

About the name and the place names

The circuit-and-toll format belongs to nobody. Korea's Supreme Court dismissed an appeal on that ground in 2018. Names, place lists and card texts are protected, so this board uses real historical county names from old Korea and every card text was written for this game.
